History:
On her 18th birthday, Karen ran away from the trailer park where she was raised and worked three jobs to put herself through college and, later, medical school.  She maintained close ties with her two best friends, Ross Bowman and Katie Marshak.  When Karen had a brief fling with the much-older Dr. Will Bowman, she found herself pregnant.  Will married Karen out of a sense of honor in spite of the fact that Karen had fallen in love with him.  Currently, Karen and Will await the birth of their child and Karen's insecure nature makes her instantly suspicious when Will's ex-wife, Diana, returns to town.
